Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays — Volume 5 — Salt and Fire

You never know where she will strike again! La Enojada, they used to call me at Blueberry Restaurant in Santa Monica, where I was kind of demoted to from their sister restaurant, after having a mini nervous breakdown while in intensive cognitive therapy. The other resto was called Rix, and it was a fancy place, it was featured in the movie “Get Shorty,” and was formerly called Abeque… Aba-Q? For anyone who lived in L. A. back in the day you’ll know that I am dating myself. I wasn’t cool enough, or wine-knowledgeable enought to hack it at Rix long term. Blueberry was a brunch nook around the corner from Rix, so I made bad cappucinos there, and once served Shannen Doherty, and turned Flea’s head, who was walking down the street outfront while I was taking a smoke break. Sigh, but I digress.

This time, La Enojada; the Upstate Food Snob, and my kid, we struck at Salt and Fire, on the main drag in Saugerties, NY, which fits the bill of my little food series, it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays they use their pretty brick oven for pizza night. As luck and my food obsessed planning would have it, we went in on Sunday just as they opened, after the movies. We saw The Boy And The Heron, by the way, it is beautiful and you should see it too. The Google search of Saugerties restaurants (not too many restos upstate have great instagram pages…
